Replica of a wax moulding like in the Musée des Moulages in Paris.
The replica is very close to real while realised with the old techniques, beeswax print, oil painting, label realised in pen.
This is a mortuary mask of a woman with syphilis.
The left eye is broken (see photos)
In the 19th century, driven by the fascination of the time for monstrosity, the art of ceroplastic shifted from the representation of the normal to that of the pathological, which eventually led to its relegation to the fairgrounds, where it disappeared as a sector at the beginning of the 20th century.
