25 original, antique, with good patina, detailed, tribally well used Akan Ashanti Asante bronze gold weights from Ghana, West Africa. Gold weight. Gold weights.
Made with the lost mould/lost wax/cire perdue method. Various geometric shapes with a symbolic meaning.
Also pyramids. And triangles. Also with engravings.
African bronze with various colours, from light to dark brown.
Wear and tear. Some weights have lost some bronze or had bronze removed. Lead or other metals have been added to some weights to make them heavier. Rounded corners, without sharp edges.
All this shows that these bronze weights have been tribally well used as a counterweight to weigh gold dust long before 1900.

Comparable geometric weights have been illustrated in, for example: Tom Phillips, African Goldweights, Miniature Sculptures from Ghana 1400 - 1900 (2010) and Brigitte Menzel, Goldgewichte aus Ghana (1968).

Total weight of these 25 weights is (approximately): 315 grams.
These weights weigh from 4.0 grams to 75.8 grams.

To compare their dimensions, please see the euro coin and measuring tape .

Will be shipped with Track & Trace, registration and insurance.
