This mask hasa stool on top of its head, considered by this ethnic group as a symbol of royalty.
Guro ethnic group is composed of forty tribes that occupy a territory in central Ivory Coast.
They are surrounded by the Bete in the west, Gagou in the south, the Baule in the east and the Malinke in the north.
The Gouros are known as sculptors of colourful masks, figurines, pulley weavers and spoons.
This mask is nicely stylized and the features are beautifully carved, an
