Beautiful French Empire tabletop clock made from mercury, fine gold, gilt-bronze. In perfect condition. Mid 19th century. It is a sculptural-type design made up of a base on which there is a highly-detailed scene of a French woman with a dress from the period stroking a cat. The animal is nickel-plated and stands out from the gold of the piece. The base stands on two hind legs and a beautifully carved front leg with garlands, scrolls and floral patterns. On top of it rests a rectangular piece bordered with a floral border and on it a bronze block with rural decoration where the clock is. The dial is silver-plated with black Roman numerals and in perfect condition. The mechanism is Paris 8 days, thread pendulum and in working condition. The bell chimes every hour and half hour. Dimensions: height 42 cm, width 30 cm. Weight: 5 kg.
