This lot consists of:
- 1 table decorative piece with glass paste chalice: signed VAN BOUCKEL (H 30 cm x W 17 cm), a shard of 2 cm is missing from the glass.
- 1 little rose (17 x 13 cm): signed DM (D. Marin would have been a student of Lodewijk van Boeckel).
Louis (Lodewijk) Van Boeckel (Lier, 16 January 1857 - 6 July 1944) was a Belgian art-smith. With his successful participation in the Rubens competition-exhibition, his fame really started to grow. Around 1900 on world level he was at the top. In that year he won the highest distinction at the world exhibition in Paris, where 378 art smiths from all over the participated in.
Van Boeckel designed mainly ornamental objects, often decorated with flowers and animals, but also chandeliers, banisters, fences, signboards and bas-reliefs.
