Concerns a rare Chassepot bayonet, made in 1868 by the German firm Y. Funcke & Cie Herdecke under the adoption of french arms maker Cahen-Lyon as it could not cope with the demand for these bayonets. The bayonet is then used by the French army during the French-Prussian war in 1870-71 to be conquered by the Prussians on the French. the bayonet goes back to its country of origin where the sheath is adapted to finally be reused as Beutewaffe in the German army during WWI. A giant chunk of martial history in one bayonet!!
