Reliquary cross in olive wood and nacre. Jerusalem, late 19th century. Precious late 1800s’ reliquary cross from the Holy Land, finely carved in olive wood likely of the same provenance and decorated with finely chiselled inserts intended for the holy relics. Only one relic is currently stored in the crucifix. The inserts also represent the 14 stations of the cross on the way to the Calvary. The Calvary title is on the beautiful base. The Christ figure is in silver tone bronze. The cross is in very good condition, it has a contemporary repair and a visible reinforcement on the back.
Authentic vintage, as described.
