Very rare spoons, Anton Michelsen.
A. Michelsen, a goldsmith at the Danish court, released his first Christmas memorial spoon in 1910.
In the first spoon, from 1914, Jesus is represented inside the cross, inscribed in the crown of thorns, in the front of the spoon; at the centre of the back side is depicted a large beam of light with the writing in Danish: "JUL", translated: Christmas.
On the second spoon, from 1924, are represented a field of wheat and two birds in flight.
The spoons are in excellent condition, with slight signs of ageing.
Considering the age of these pieces it’s quite amazing how much time has passed since their making, if items could talk these spoons would have many stories to tell.
