Lovely and Rare Pair of Ceremonial Axes
(Twins?)
These objects named Hamba are used by the Baka (Pygmies from Cameroon).
Unsettled hunter-gatherers, they have a trading relationship with their neighbours the Bantu, who are farmers.
The iron constitutes the dowry for marriage.
Vegetable ties, typical of the Pygmies, are fastened around the neck and the waist. The hands are folded on the body, a typical posture of the Pygmies.
Lovely honey coloured patina.
