The Vienna St. Stephen's Cathedral is one of the most important pieces of Gothic construction in middle Europe. It has been a cathedral since 1365, a cathedral (episcopal see) since 1469 and a Metropolitan church of the archbishop since 1723 The "Steffl" is considered a landmark of the city of Vienna On top of the parts built around 1136, (west facade) are still preserved Romanesque predecessor churches built from 1304 to 1511 including a 107 meters long and 34 meters wide three-aisled nave. The highest of the four side towers is the freestanding south tower (136 metres). The mighty pitched roof covered with approx. 230,000 roof tiles with its colourful brick pattern is also characteristic In it you can see the coats of arms of Emperor Franz I, the city of Vienna and the Republic of Austria. The exterior facades and interiors are richly structured and figured. The magnificent interiors are mainly Gothic and Baroque. This extraordinary silver coin with its fully gold-plated inlay presents the world-famous Viennese church building as a faithful replica - a multi-dimensional coin creation in the finest metals.
