An original, bronze Saint Helene Medal with its ribbon. The first French commemorative medal.
Created in 1857, and was awarded to all living veterans who had fought in the service of the French military during the Napoleonic wars from 1792 until 1815.
The medal front has a portrait of Napoleon I and the text on the obverse states:- "Campagnes de 1792 à 1815. A ses compagnons de gloire sa dernière pensée Ste Hélène 5 Mai 1821'’. With a crown on the crest.

The Diploma with the accompanying medal is framed behind glass.
This medal belonged to an officer.
Entirely well preserved and only framed a few years back.
Usually the medal is sold without the diploma and one seldom finds out to whom the medal was awarded.

Frame Measurements are: 38.5 cm x 28.5 cm.

In very good condition.

Will be well packaged and shipped via registered mail.
