A rare etching in an early second state on five with the publishers address of Bonenfant but before the number.
Rare because not mentioned in literature but as described by the Rijksmuseum (object RP-P-OB-4173) belonging to the series of Italian landscapes Hollstein number 76-111 (Nielandt). Here on of the series not known to Hollstein.
From a cave, in which a river flows, views of a mountainous landscape. Left on the shore two shepherds with a herd of goats.
Condition: Excellent early impression with much plate tone. Full plate border and tread margins. With borders on a collection sheet. Flattened printers crease top left tired in a bit.
The print was etched between 1602 and 1605 but published for the first time around 1635.( By Bonenfent ). This is a early impression from the first edition.
With the Privilege and the address of A Bon Enfant (Publisher active between 1631 and 1637, Royal privilege grants in 1635)
