Strait LeMaire was discovered in 1616 by Jacob le Maire and Willem Cornelisz Schouten when they were looking for a new sea route to India. #wikipedia. Published by Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703 – 21 March 1772). He was a prominent French hydrographer and geographer. With a career of over 50 years he produced a large number of cards for, among other things, the French Ministry of Marine. Paris, 1753.
