The Muonionalusta is a meteorite classified as octahedrite, type IVA (Of) that struck in the North of Scandinavia, on the westside of the border between Sweden and Finland, about a million years before our era.
The first fragment of the Muonionalusta was found near the village of Kitkiojarvi in 1906. [1] 40 pieces are known today, some being quite large. Other fragments were found in a 25 x 15 km (15.5 mi × 9.3 mi) in Pajala in the County of Norrbotten district, at about 140 kilometers (87 miles) north of the Arctic circle.
