Sientje van Houten (Groningen, 23 December 1834 - The Hague, 20 March 1909) was a Dutch artist. She married on April 23, 1856 in Groningen with the stockbroker Hendrik Willem Mesdag, the later Dutch marine painter of the Hague School.

She dedicated herself to landscapes and still lifes, but also painted portraits.

Johannes Christiaan d'Arnaud Gerkens (1823-1892) was her drawing teacher. In painting she was helped along by the painters Willem Roelofs and Lourens Alma Tadema, her nephew by marriage. In 1881 she painted the Panorama Mesdag.
Her work has been exhibited in several countries, such as Australia, Belgium, England, France, Italy, Austria and the United States. She also won several prizes with her paintings.

Beautiful oil painting, in good condition, signed and framed.
