Description
French pendulum with angel / cupid (candlesticks) - l. leroy & cie. Paris- Joseph Carlier - Bronze, Wood - Early 19th century
Mechanical - 8 day movement - half hour, one bell

A wonderful unique French mantel clock with two single-holder candlesticks.
On top of the French mantel clock we see a large angel/cupid.

The sculpture (angel) is signed on the back: Joseph Carlier.
Émile Nestor Joseph Carlier, shortly called Joseph Carlier, was a French sculptor who lived from 1849 to 1927.

The French mantel clock is finished with wood, which creates a wonderful effect.
The candlesticks are of the same design, with loose bronze applications.

The movement is signed: L. Leroy & Cie. Paris.
Leroy was a famous clockmaker in Paris in the 1765/1789 period.

The movement was converted at an early stage from a rope regulator to a leaf spring clock as this offered a higher accuracy. A skilled clockmaker will always be able to easily convert the movement back to a rope regulator.

The whole looks very neat for its age.
