Superb end slice of the famous NWA 869 meteorite, the largest of stony type known to the world until today. This is an ordinary breached chondrite, classified as L 3-6.
Its estimated age of formation is 4,500 million years (origin of the Solar System). Chondrites are fragments of material that did not become part of any major planet, and remained free in space, in the form of asteroids of different size.
In the specimen of this lot you can be see some of their chondrules, which stand for the first granules of material that formed the asteroids and planets of the solar system. You can also see the various points of free metal scattered on the rock matrix.
