The academic sculptor Vladimír David was born in 1921 in Yugoslavia. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. From 1949 to 1963 he was an assistant at the same Academy, in the porcelain and ceramics department. In the mid-50s, he began his collaboration with the Royal Dux porcelain factory.

The clown at auction was designed by him in 1974 for the Royal Dux Bohemian porcelain factory.

This piece is incredibly special: the red, white and yellow details make it a true "jewel".

A very rare piece. Excellent condition.
