Sculpture, head of a lady - Renaissance - Limestone - Second half 16th century

A large limestone head of a Renaissance lady, inspired by Roman antiquity and resembling the marble portrait of Annia Galeria Faustina Minor (130 – 175), daughter of the Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius and Roman Empress Faustina the Elder and Roman Empress and wife to her maternal cousin Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, which is kept at the Glyptothek in Munich.
France. 2nd half of the 16th century.
Dimensions: height (with stand) 33cm ; height (of the head) 24cm ; width 20cm ; depth 15cm.
Mounted on a later wooden base.
