Roy Lichtenstein (New York, 27th October 1923-29th September 1997) was an American pop-art artist. His works are best known for the images reminiscent of cartoons with bright, mostly primary colours defined by bold black outlines. He made paintings, lithographs and sculptures. Lichtenstein was born in New York City, in a wealthy Jewish family.
