Early 2011 it was officially announced the 900,000th vehicle had been produced. The 1,000,000th Mazda MX-5 rolled off the conveyor belt in Hiroshima in April 2016. This makes the MX-5 the best selling open two-seater in the world!

The ‘primal model’ with the folding headlights. Up to 1993 exclusively with a 1.6L engine with 116 hp and 135 Nm-torque at 5500 rpm. From 1994 onwards, in addition to the 1.6L, a 1.8L version was available which supplied 131 hp and a torque of 152 Nm at 5000 rpm. The power of the 1.6L engine was lowered from 1995 to 90 hp. This was done through other camshafts which allowed the valves to open less long, using a lower compression and a modified engine management system. The modest torque of 129 Nm was released by these adjustments at 4000 rpm which, despite the power loss, ensured a smooth accelerating engine. Mazda mainly carried out the "downsizing" of the engine to reach a broader audience. The 1.6L / 90 HP version was only intended for Europe.

This vehicle:
This Mazda ‘Miata’ was first seen in the US and was imported into the Netherlands in 1996. It has had 2 owners since. The Miata is equipped with a brand new soft top and a leather interior, the invoices from De Cabriohoeve (an MX5 Specialist) are available.

The MX5 series is known for its rust problems, luckily it’s fine on this one, a sill was recently replaced and it has the original welded wheel arches, this greatly increases its value!

In short, the Mazda Miata is a fine and a good value-for-money investment, original ones have become more rare in recent years and prices have more than doubled. You can have a real icon for relatively little money, a classic and a very nice car to drive!

The car can be viewed and picked up in Eelde, the Netherlands.
