About Royalty - a collection of regal memorabiliaTraditionally, kings and emperors are depicted on prints, paintings, coins and tokens. But there are many more ways to display the king or queen: portraits or statuettes in porcelain, crystal, bronze, silver and gold for example. Nowadays crowned heads even adorn packages of consumer items such as alcoholic beverages, biscuit tins, tea towels and teaspoons. Such objects often serve to commemorate happy occasions: a marriage, a birth, a trip or a state visit. However some of these objects might literally show the other side of the coin. The lots offered in the “Royalty” auction give a lively picture of hundreds of years of European royal houses and have been on display in the 2012 Rotterdam sales exhibition “Everything for the Crown”

An extremely rare colour print by I.D. Sytin of Nikolaas II and Alexandra.
Printed at Sytin in Moscow 27 October 1894.
This may have been a special edition for the coronation on 26 May 1896.
The text says:
"Moscow, 27 October 1894
His Imperial Majesty the Sovereign
Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess""
Publisher: Ivan Dmitrievich Sytin (Russian: Ива́н Дми́триевич Сы́тин; 1851 – 1934)
ALL the objects, in any form relating to the Romanovs, had to be destroyed by the owners themselves after 1917, there were great penalties in Russia.
This colour print used to be rolled up, you can still see this from the light paper snap, see photos.
"Ivan Dmitrievich Sytin was the son of a Soligalich peasant who built the largest publishing house in pre-revolutionary Russia.
Sytin went from his village to Moscow at the age of 13 and opened his own book shop in 1883. He made a fortune through printing millions of almanac-type calendars containing miscellaneous practical information. They were cheap and attractively illustrated.
This venture was followed by the very cheap editions of Pushkin's, Gogol's and Tolstoy's works. After their authors' rights expired, Sytin compressed their entire works into one volume that cost as little as 90 kopecks. He was the first publisher to reach the peasants all over Russia and to shape popular taste in the entire country.
By the early 20th century, Sytin dominated the publishing industry in the Russian Empire. He commissioned numerous translations of adventure fiction by such authors as Jules Verne and H. G. Wells
Russian Word, an obscure conservative newspaper, was transformed by Sytin into Russia's most popular (and cheapest) daily; its circulation surpassed one million copies in 1917.
After the Russian Revolution, Sytin's printing house was nationalized but he decided against emigrating and died in obscurity in his small flat on Tverskaya Street at the age of 83. This apartment has been designated a national museum since 1989."

Please note: some elements on this page have been translated automatically.Een van de karaffen is gebroken aangekomen. Daar kan de verkoper niets aan doen, alhoewel ik het slecht vond ingepakt. Maar erger nog, de verkoper heeft na een aantal berichten GEEN respons gegeven. Please note: some elements on this page have been translated automatically.Wellicht is het verstandig om eens in Uw mailbox te kijken, heb wel degelijk een reactie gegeven. Verder; U schrijft 'daar kan de verkoper niets aan doen' en dan komt er van U een negatieve Feedback ???
Please note: some elements on this page have been translated automatically.spedizione lentaPlease note: some elements on this page have been translated automatically.Deze reactie is de waanzin ten top ! De koper moest zelf zorgen voor het afhalen van het schilderij. Dat duurde ongeveer één maand !!! en dan schrijft hij; de verscheping ging langzaam met een negatief oordeel over mij ?????
