|Object:||Very rare clock of the ship "Normandy"|
|Estimated Period:||circa 1935|
|Country of Origin:||France|
|Condition:||Fair condition - heavily used & with possibly minor parts missing|
A very rare and beautiful collector's item! "Le Normandie", ceramic from Sareguemines ( FRANCE), still in good condition, lack of enamel in front, two small chips, see pictures, otherwise the boat is not broken! The decision to build this boat had been made in the late 1920s.
Photo number 6315, enamel lacks, easy to restore.
Photo number 6316/ 6317, small chips on the tips of 2 chimneys.
The boat is not broken, no cracks, the lid of the clock is missing.
Our "clock-liner" is, said by some collectors, sold as a souvenir at the shop on board. This assertion could not be confirmed by specialists in the history of the mythical liner. Rather, it should be seen as a popular tribute from the earthenware factory to the flagship of the French commercial fleet. It is also said that there is a smaller version of this clock. There is currently no evidence to support this assertion. Nothing either allows us to exclude it, there are examples of clock or fireplace trimming, identical but of different sizes.
Its form number 5603 indicates a production from after 1930 and precedes another clock, the number 5604, a clock in the shape of an Alsatian house.
