The Vertigo label was launched in 1969 by Phonogram Londen under the supervision of one Olav Wyper, responsible for exploitation of the popular music over there.

They started with six albums by Black Sabbath, Colosseum, Manfred Man, Juicy Lucy,
Rod Stewart (Gasoline Alley) and Ancient Grease.
The original 'Juicy Lucy' sleeve showed a naked woman on the floor, covered with all kinds of fruit. If I remember well that sleeve was withdrawn because of vulgarity even before the record was officially released. But we at Phonogram were already sampled with the original.
Now I deeply regret I sold all my Vertigo's in 2007 including the juicy "Juicy Lucy". See internet...
Like they say: Ain't no use crying over spilt mi...nt collector's items.
