Exceptional large double-barrelled pistol in a very nice luxury finish, towards the late 19th century (1870-1880), 12 mm calibre pinfire, removable triggers.
Polished steel chest, engraved and chiselled with foliage scrolls and floral motifs, the triggers and their frame are also chiselled with foliage scrolls. The breech tail and barrel bolt are also finely engraved with flowers. The Renaissance type walnut butt is carved with palmettes on each side, there are some light bumps but no cracks or lacks. The cap is covered with a polished steel plate with scalloped tip.
Round tanned steel double barrel juxtaposed on a tilting table, the block is in excellent condition, bolt with very slight play. The barrels are grooved, sides of mirror with some slight oxidation marks. The tan is superbly preserved with some rare oxidation spots.
It works perfectly. Very powerful springs in excellent condition, triggers, hammers and barrels quite functional.
Saint Etienne test bench hallmarks affixed below the barrels. All the parts are numbered 21.
Superb copy of these pinfire pistols in a beautiful luxury finish, very well-made.
