Painter of the Laren School. He was a self-taught artist, who gradually started using a lighter pallet. He had lived in Laren since 1940 and was part of the circle of painters who regularly met in Hotel Hamdorff. Several times he also took part in exhibitions that were organised at that hotel. He was a member of the society "Rembrandt" and of "St. Lucas” in Amsterdam.

According to the mention in "Max van Waay lexicon 1944", some of his works were already bought by the government at that time. Topics were still lifes and particularly landscapes. Painting is in good condition except for some light craquelure lines, the frame has some signs of wear.
