The Big Five were once named the five most dangerous animals in Africa - most of them are likely to be large. The Five are the elephant, the rhinoceros, the buffalo, the lion and the leopard. Happily, the Big Five are now protected species and can be admired in all their beauty in the famous Kruger National Park. The national park was created in 1898 at the instigation of President Paul Kruger.
The leopard colour motif was finished on a silver ounce South African Krugerrand. The Krugerrand is the most widespread and probably most well-known investment coin in the world.
