The engraving was made by Jan Punt (17711-1779). The originally Swiss artist Jacob Perrenot (1694-1767) is responsible for the map’s image. Perrenot studied law in Leiden and obtained his PhD in 1739. He then left for Culemborg, where he was a member of the ‘Grafelijke Raad’ for a long time. In his home environment, he did some land surveying and mapping as a hobby. This overview map of his own region is an example. Perrenot dedicated the map to Willem V, prince of Orange and stadtholder. This assignment can be found in the lush title cartouche bottom centre.
