This unique, one-of-a-kind drawing was made by Lorne Peterson, explaining the airplane effect shot in Temple of Doom.
"This drawing is part of a series I have started with the intention of creating a book on how model shots were achieved from my experience of working at ILM for 35 years. It’s often assumed model makers just hand the models off to the cameramen and that’s it. That’s not true at all. I wanted to show the “seat of your pants” engineering that goes into making a shot work, the mechanics that make for a spectacular effect.”
