17th century roemer - 13.0 cm - Glass
Wonderful late 17th century rummer (dated to the fourth quarter of the 17th century).
The chalice or cuppa has minimal/minuscule air bubbles, so-called ‘seeds’ and a sort of ‘haze’ in the chalice.
Continuous ‘open’ to the stem ( a so-called ‘runner’).
Ribbed glass thread below the chalice.
The stem is fully decorated with the so characteristic and special ‘bramble’ nodes.
Take note: the story is that these ‘brambles’ supplied grip during the meal, as at the time people only used a knife while eating and the fingers would become greasy.
The nodes were impressed with a pipe earthenware stamp.
The foot with circular glass threads (applied on a wooden bobbin) and the so typical squeezed-off pontil (last contact with the glass pipe) were pushed inwards on the stem.
The glass is light as a feather (soda mix). Feeling it is a sensation by itself.
The glass is 100% intact.
It is 13 cm tall.
The glass will be extremely carefully packaged in bubble plastic and placed in a very sturdy cardboard box and shipped with insurance and registration.
