Nkishi power figure from the Songye country. D.R. Congo.
This cubist statuette with a honey coloured patina was desecrated after use, we can indeed note a perforation on the summit of the head. A horn loaded with magical ingredients was supposed to be there, the Nkishi was used by its owner for protection purposes.
With a ringed neck of the nicest effect. The prognathous mouth with fleshy kips symbolises the power of speech of the fetish in front of evil curse. The figure is standing on a base lifting it.
