Germany - WKC Stahl- und Metallwarenfabrik - "Eagle head" - Original bowie blade - Bayonet, Fighting knife
This rare WWI fighting knife -bayonet has a beautiful, factory made bowie type blade.
It is marked with the early WKC logo on the ricasso, the “knight helmet” and the “kings head” mark.
WKC was the only Solingen firm who made this type of blades: "bowie" shape
The “eagle head” hilt has preserved most of its plating and the wooden grip plates are in great condition.
Very interesting about this WKC fighting knife is that it also has a working bayonet slot, so it could be mounted onto the K98 riffle by the officer or NCO! This version is very rarely encountered.
The scabbard is a slim type used for bowie blades. It has a good part of the paint present. The brown supple leather hanger is in great condition with a complete and working snap.
Production year: 1910-1918
