In the Yoruba culture, this figure represents Eshu, a spirit or Orisha.
We can recognise the character by its long hairdo, arched backwards.
The figure is covered with blue pigment, to which magical virtues are attributed. Strings full of cowry shells dress the Eshu, these are symbol of power and wealth.
