The Ferrari 512 TR made its debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show in 1992 as an evolution of the first Testarossa. The code number represents its 5L and 12-cylinder displacement, while the letters TR are just the initials of Testarossa, a tribute to the ‘mother’ that still makes the fans’ heart beat.
Some small yet effective visual changes were made, compared to the previous model. Aerodynamics of the elegant Pininfarina line was improved according to aerodynamics. Mechanics were also remarkably changed; pistons, engine shaft, intake manifolds and exhaust were modified, as well as a new Bosch injection system.
All these improvements made the 512 TR much more reliable and with performance well above the previous versions, reaching a top speed of almost 315 km/h.
The Testarossa is definitely one of the most iconic Ferrari cars of the last 30 years. The rear structure, along with the side slits, make it a dynamic and sporty car.
The Ferrari Testarossa increased its success by appearing during a chase in the
famous TV show ‘Miami Vice’.
