Description
Henri Matisse (after) - Angelette / Elégie à Janet (tweeluik)
Lithograph - Facsimile authorization - 1948 / 1974

This creation by Henri Matisse (1869-1954) was an illustration for the prestigious poetry collection 'Florilège des Amours' by Pierre de Ronsard (1524-1585).

This edition in Facsimile was printed in Switzerland in 1974 and was authorised by Albert Skira, a Swiss publisher and an authority in art centre. The original lithography dates from 1948. Document to substantiate this will be added when shipped.

This work is a high-quality reproduction from 1974 and is therefore almost half a century old. The reproduction is hardly distinguishable from the original work from 1948 because the same printing process and the same type of paper were used. The work of art was expertly preserved and was never framed.

This reproduction will be sent safely packed between two MDF plates and insured with track and trace code.

Henri Émile Benoît Matisse (December 31 1869 – November 3 1954) was a French artist known for both his use of colour and his fluid and original art. He was a draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor, but is best known as a painter. Matisse is widely regarded, together with Pablo Picasso, as one of the artists who has best helped define the revolutionary developments in visual art during the first decades of the twentieth century, which was responsible for important developments in painting and sculpture. Pierre de Ronsard (September 11, 1524 – December 27, 1585) was a French poet or, as his own generation in France called him, a 'prince of poets'.
