A Rare Candelabra - 'Art-Deco' by 'Christofle', in Laque de Chine ! Several weeks ago, a pair of single Candlesticks by Christofle were sold for a handsome price on Catawiki. They were identical to this one, except single. This one comes from our own Private Collection and is the much rarer 'Double candelabra', by Christofle. This one also happens to be in absolute "MINT" condition and comes with its original Pouch-Bag, with a Designers Tag: 'Clarte Design'. Very heavily Silver Plated, the base and both candleholders are Golden tone lacquered, with 'Laque de Chine' and have a typical Art - Deco arch on top.  This Double Vintage Candelabra by "Christofle", is from the elegant "Laque de Chine" collection, which has become exceedingly rare, combining sophisticated Deco design with the ancient Asian lacquer technique of 'Laque de Chine'. The actual size of the Candelabra is: 19 cm. H. x 18 cm. W. Marked 'Christofle France - OC Laque de Chine.' Exceptional quality and design. As you well know, there are nowadays very few manufacturers in the world, who still know how to use Chinese lacquer. Too often, the term lacquer refers to items made with synthetic paint. This is not to be confused with authentic Chinese lacquer, a plant product, which is far superior in both its aesthetic and resistant qualities. Christofle has renewed an authentic tradition of ancient China. The lacquer used for this candelabra, is the sap of the 'Rhus Vernicifera' bush, harvested and prepared strictly according to the original methods. Would make a magnificent 'Gift' !
