Hendric Goltzius (1558 – 1617), Autumn (from the four seasons), engraving ±1590.
A contemporary copy from 1601 by Jan Saenredam (1565-1607).
Image 20.5 x 15.6 cm, with caption 22 x 15.6 cm. Signed in the plate "HG inve. IS sculp."
Particularly sharp and deep print. Two brown spots, one in the lower margin (clearly visible) and one in the right edge in the tree trunk (not striking). Furthermore, three edges were cropped up to the contour line. Despite these shortcomings, this copy has been included in renowned collections because of the particularly nice print. See photos of the back show the collection of stamps of "Kupferstich Sammlung der Könige Museen", a 19th century German stamp of the "K.K.O. Stramitz" with the eagle of the emperor, and a third stamp "v.N.".
