Description
Naar Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn (1606-1669) - De predikende Christus
Etching - Plate signed - 1652

Rembrandt van Rijn, 1606-1669 (after).
De predikende Christus, etching ca. 1652 (= Bartsch 67). Only edition.
This copy from ca. 1792 by F. Novelli, 1767-1836.
Image size: 15.6 x 20.8 cm Paper 17.9 x 22.5 cm. Margin outside the printing edge 4-5 mm. Signature on the bottom left in the plate "Rembrandt" and on the bottom right in the margin "Francesco Novelli inci". Sharp, clear and entirely intact print. The rust spots affect the margin – especially on the bottom left – but they do not affect the image. See the four detailed photos, which cover the entire image.
On the back, vaguely in pencil: "B67" (=Bartsch), "2201" (presumably archive number) and in red pencil "R 16" (probably number of collector).
The very good copies of Novelli are always signed in the print and accurately dated (late 18th/early 19th century) and all registered and described, this in contrast to most copies, which have an unclear origin.
