Rembrandt van Rijn, 1606-1669 (naar) - Staande boer met hoog hoofddeksel
Etching - Plate signed - 1639

Rembrandt van Rijn, 1606-1669 (after).
‘Staande boer met hoog hoofddeksel, leunend op een stok’, etching 1639, only edition. (=Bartsch 133, Hollstein 164).
This copy from ca. 1792 by F. Novelli, 1767-1836.
Image size 8.5 x 6 cm. Margin outside the printing edge approx. 6 mm. Signature on the bottom left in the plate "Rembrandt" and on the bottom right in the margin "Francesco Novelli inci". Sharp, clear and entirely intact print. The rust spots affect the margin – especially on the bottom left – but they do not affect the image. See the four detailed photos, which cover the entire image.
On the back, vaguely in pencil: "B67" (=Bartsch), "2201" (presumably archive number) and in red pencil "R 16" (probably number of collector).
The very good copies of Novelli are always signed in the print and accurately dated (late 18th/early 19th century) and all registered and described, this in contrast to most copies, which have an unclear origin.
