Beautiful drawing of the church of Vries put in original frame. The pictures show a lot of reflection -in 1924 there was no museum glass hence - in real life it is more beautiful

Jan Dersken Slaats (1897-1974 ) lived and worked in Transvaal and in the Netherlands (Middelburg). He painted and drew subjects such as village and city views, landscapes and portraits. He was a member of the “Groninger Ploeg” for one year.
Van Wolde (1891-1945) painted a Face from the Grand Place from the Martini tower at the age of 13.
After the academy Minerva he worked in his father's cartonnage factory at the Schoolholm and designed advertisements or advertising printing. He made the most money by creating calendars, for which he travelled all over the country. A selection of the photographs he took served as an example for his lithographs, from which he had calendar sheets printed.
His work often consists of an oblique composition: at least one side is closed by trees or buildings and the eye is drawn to the centre of the image, which is light in colour. The historical images are very meticulously crafted.
