Wouter Stips - Thee drinken

Description
Wouter Stips - Thee drinken
Silkscreen/Serigraph - Hand signed - 120/150

The work of Stips (1944) is narrative, theatrical-naïve, it initially provokes cheer and when looking at it more closely, it provokes thinking. Wouter about his work: "I paint what I would like to dream of; landscapes and scenes in which people and animals meet, play with each other, not hindered by any restriction. In my paintings, everything must be possible, as can be done in the still free, unbridled spirit of a child. I don't think about what I paint. It comes up like a dream comes up. It's ideas and thoughts that I shape, it's like poetry, but with colours, planes and lines. A work is only good if I am surprised by it...'

This screen print comes from EY's corporate art collection.
