Description
Marten Toonder (1912-2005) - Het gaat om het spel
Silkscreen/Serigraph - Hand signed - 68/475 - 2001

Marten Toonder (1912-2005) occupies a unique place in the gallery of Dutch literators, because he has created a whole new genre of literature. The combination of text and images that characterize his Bommel stories places Toonder's work in the comic genre; its virtuoso language lends it a literary quality.
It started in the war as a newspaper comic for children, With the publication of the stories in paperback form, started by the ‘Bezige Bij’ in 1967, came the literary recognition. With the inclusion of Toonder in 'the pantheon', the gallery of honour of the hundred largest Dutch literararies ever in the Literary Museum, he has finally conquered a place among the greatest writers of the Netherlands.

This signed print comes from EY's corporate art collection.
