Brief history: These "JALOPY" (TARTANA) cars were very popular in the United States during the first third of the 20th century, it was a very familiar sight on the streets.

It all started when students, in order to hide the dents or defects in their cars, began to paint on them "graffiti" with the slogans of that time.

Soon this comic fashion was a good attraction for youth and these cars were used for parades, parties and transport of friends.

Louis Marx produced these toy cars by copying slogans from city cars, plus pretty phrases like the one in the back: "Caution:Heart Brakes"

Today although there is extensive documentation on this fact, it is quite difficult to find a toy with these characteristics and in these conditions.
