Short sword used by the Lulua people living in the south of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Wrought iron blade, with a geometric decoration on both sides, wooden handle with a lower part featuring a very particular checkerboard geometrical decoration.
Similar weapons are reproduced in several books about this subject, including: Afrikanische Waffen - W. Fisher, M. Zirngibl p.143 (see picture).
In good condition, with wear, oxidation and age marks, quite usual for these sorts of weapons. Both sides of the weapon are in quite similar condition (blade and handle).
A pretty rare weapon.
