Karel Appel (1921 - 2006) - Abstracte vormen

Description
Karel Appel (1921 - 2006) - Abstracte vormen
Lithograph - Hand signed - EA - 1975

Karel Appel studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. His first solo exhibition was in Groningen in 1946. In the years after the end of the Second World War he developed his own unique art style with the help of found objects and pieces of wood that he incorporated into works of art.
His earliest themes were associated with childhood imagery, often with grotesque people, monsters and animal shapes. In 1948 he was one of the founders of the Dutch experimental group, together with Guillaume Corneille and Constant Nieuwenhuys. All three artists left Amsterdam and moved to Paris, where they formed the international art group Cobra together.

This piece comes from the company collection of EY.
