Silver gelatin print on fibre-based Agfa Brovira paper with matte finish. Very good condition, well preserved. Only the slightest waviness to the paper. No silvering.
Gerhard Riebicke (1878 - 1954) was a German artist best known for his nude photographs of people engaged in sporting activities. His black-and-white photographs highlighted the many ways in which the body could move through images of men and women dancing, wrestling, and running. Yet above all, the artist's work idealised health and beauty by showcasing romanticised images of graceful women and muscular men.
Censored by the Third Reich regime he focused on sports photography and did his nude photographs in private locations.
