FRENCH VICTORIAN BEDSPREAD IN COTTON. - Cotton - Early 20th century

Description
FRENCH VICTORIAN BEDSPREAD IN COTTON. - Cotton - Early 20th century
France

This is a magnificent cotton bedspread and hardly ever used and thus as new.
The owner told me that it was crocheted by her great grandmother in the early 1900s as a wedding gift to her daughter ( her grandmother) and ever since it has been in the armoire and has it's first "airing" so to speak
It desperately needs a new loving home and for somebody to cherish it and use it of course now af ter all this time being hidden away..
It has a beautiful design and typical of that period.
The overall pattern is framed with stylised small leaves in which there is one design with 4 leaves and the other with squares and they alternate.
All sides are scalloped and a nice detail is that above the scalloped edges is a continual line of small leave and gives it extra character.
It genuinely is a superb piece of French crochet.
