Beautifully painted by Ferdinand Tacconi, this painting shows a Dogfight involving a B17 Flying Fortress in mid Dog-Fight with enemy aircraft.
The US Flying Fortresses was co-produced by Douglas, Lockheed, and Vega companies, Boeing oversaw the manufacture of over 12,500 Flying Fortresses.
Tacconi painted this for a very early edition of Look and Learn comic - around issue 58/59 in 1963.
The Italian master of comics arts paints in his unique style which combines extremely fine brush work alongside blockier expressive areas. It is incredible how much detail is in the main aircraft, let alone how so much is implied by the tiniest details of the attacking planes.
This panel measures 202mm x 92mm and is painted on thin card.
