Description
Attribué à James Pradier (1790-1852) - Sculpture, Venus titled "The Birth of Love" - Bronze - 19th century
France

Bronze with dark patina entitled "The Birth of Love": Venus and Eros asleep in a shell: Pradier imagined that Venus born in a shell also gives birth to Eros in the shell. This one seems to float on waves.
The reference to sea foam, present on this model, does not exist when bronze has a moulded base.

Unsigned sculpture by Pradier (model that exists in 3 versions, the 3rd is unsigned, as announced in the catalogue raisonné).
