Gerardus Croese was a Dutch Reformed minister. He wrote the book “OMHPOΣ EBPAIOΣ, sive Historia Hebraeorum ab Homero Hebraicis nominibus ac sententiis conscripta in Odyssea et Iliade I” while he was a minister in Alblas. (Wikipedia)
His work “Homerus Hebraeus, sive Historia Hebraeorum ab Homero, Hebraicis hominibus ac sententiis conscripta, in Odyssea et Iliade, exposita et illustrata” is a special mixture of misapplied learning and imaginative criticism. Perizonius, and after him Saxms, believes that nothing more foolish can be imagined than this book, with which our readers will probably agree, when they are told that its purpose is to prove that the Odyssey contains the history of the Jews in the patriarchal ages, and the Iliad is an account of the siege and conquest of Jericho. Croese also left some dissertations. Source: website words.fromoldbooks.org
